  • Where is Vanilla Splits Located?
We are located at PMC, Fordingbridge Industrial Park, Barnham Rd, Barnham, West Sussex, PO22 0HD. Go to the contact page for a map of our location.
  • Can I come and see the VW Split Screen buses?
By all means, you are welcome to come and see the buses by prior arrangement. We are open 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday  - give us a call  on 01243 545725.
  • What age do you have to be to hire a Vanilla Splits bus?
25 years old and over, up to 75 years old, with a minimum of two years driving experience and 6 points or less on your licence.
  • Can more than one person be insured to drive the bus?
Yes, but there is an extra charge, and we will need to see driving licences and supporting documents too. Again the same criteria must be fulfilled.PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL DRIVERS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH US; IF THEY ARE NOT, NOT ONLY IS IT ILLEGAL, BUT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE INSURED, SO YOU WILL BE PERSONALLY  LIABLE FOR ANY COSTS OR DAMAGE.
  •     Is there a mileage limit?
The hire includes 100 miles of travel per day, excluding the day of return. For example, a Friday to Monday weekend gives you 300 miles inclusive. Extra miles are charged at £1 per mile.
  • Can we travel abroad?
Unfortunately not, we're restricted to hiring within the UK - but that does include the Isle of Wight and Northern Ireland!
  • Where will we leave our car when we pick up the bus?
We operate from a secure site, which has 24hr surveillance. It is free to use but entirely at your own risk. We can also pick you up from our local train station (Barnham) which is on the main line to Chichester from London Victoria via Gatwick Airport.
  • Can we take our bicycles?
Yes, we can lend you a sturdy bike rack to easily carry two normal pushbikes.
  • What happens if we break down?
In the unlikely event of a breakdown you have full roadside assistance from the AA - wherever you go and 24 hours a day.
  • Can I bring Fido?
Yes, pets are welcome, but it must be by prior arrangement. Some buses are not suitable for our four legged friends because of their lovely upholstery, so check with us. Florence, Bart, Dougal and Dylan love well behaved dogs
  • What cooking utensils are provided?
Everything including the kitchen sink! A full set of cooking utensils and a full dining set for four people (with real china and glasses!). Please see standard package for more details.
  • Should I bring bed linen?
Yes, whatever is comfortable - sleeping bag or duvet and pillows.
  • Can I bring my hair dryer?
If that's what blows your hair back! As long as you're staying on a campsite with 240v hook up, then your hair dryer will work in the bus. All buses have 240v and 12v sockets. We can lend you a 12v dryer if you need one.
  • What method of payment do you accept?
Most major credit and debit cards.
  • How many does the bus sleep?
All our buses sleep two people. Our 'Bay window' buses Bart and Boris also have two adult size beds in the pop top roofs. Bongo can sleep two small adults or two kids in his pop top roof. The additional tent we can lend you will sleep two or four people depending on what you need.
  • Is there a heater in the bus?
Oh yes. All buses have heaters, which run independently of the engine direct from the fuel tank.
  • What insurance do I need?
Your booking with us includes comprehensive motor vehicle insurance for the bus and driver(s). Your personal possessions and other items not part of the buses' permanent equipment are NOT covered, and we strongly recommend you have your own insurance to cover this. Our motor vehicle insurance cover has a £500 excess which you'll be liable for should there be a claim.
  • What's the Security Deposit for?
In the unfortunate case of an accident or damage to the bus, the security deposit will be used to pay for the damage and/or the motor vehicle insurance excess. We may require an additional sum to cover the uninsured losses if greater than the insurance excess, and again recommend you take out independent travel insurance to cover this.
  • Do I have to pay a booking fee?
There is a booking fee of £150, payable at the time of booking. In the event of cancellation by the customer, this is not returnable
